A strong first layer is critical. It forms the foundation for the entire print. If the first layer does not adhere properly to the build plate, the print may fail.
In the example below, the nozzle is too far from the build plate, preventing proper adhesion.

If you see gaps between the first-layer lines, the nozzle is too far from the build plate. You need to reduce the Z-offset, which controls the distance between the nozzle and the build plate.

The best time to adjust the Z-offset is during the first layer of printing:


A dirty or greasy surface can cause adhesion problems. Clean the build plate thoroughly before printing.
